His themes of solidity, transparency, colour and reflection are a perfect match for us. Last year we reached out to him to talk about making one of his iconic visions into a real object, on the 4th of July you can come to our lauch and hold a Gromer.png in your hands.

This event is all about real life, so come see it at our space on Thursday 4th. We have only 100 limited signed SIMILEs for sale, they will go online from Friday 5th. People attending the event with get the opportunity to get one before the sale goes live.

Unlike a lot of showy Instagram bait, Gromer tends to project comparatively simple forms, paying attention to all of the dust and scratches that separate real life from on screen fantasy.

In Gromer's hands, the dust and the scratches that become the fantasy, the imperfections become the dream. For us, Gromer is one of the few artists who uses the virtual social media space to think why imperfections might make them precious, meaningful, sentimental. He is the bridge between the multicoloured social media fantasy and the new online world of de-influencing and 'uncurated' photo dumps.

Probably you feel you need more social media content like you need a hole in the head but trust me when I say you won't regret clicking over to his feed and having a look at what he has to offer. The images are mesmerizing, beguiling, sentimental, nostalgic and pure, which is why we felt such a strong need to make one of them happen. material dichromatic crystal The technique that we used to make Gromer's work real is one that we have been perfecting for more than 10 years.

I am not going in to too much technical detail, because a girl has to have her beauty secrets, but the principle is that we capitalize on the magic that happens when the index of refraction of crystal glass (which is higher than that of normal window and drinking glass) interrupts the usually subtle chameleon effect of dichromatic film. It has to do with different parts of the light being reflected of the top of the film and the bottom of the film, an effect that also happens when you see oil on water. When this high-tech microfilm is applied to traditionally cut and polished brilliant crystal glass, the effect is exaggerated and becomes even more intense and surprising, the glass is sometimes clear, sometimes subtly coloured, and sometimes exploding with vivid contrasts and hues.
