Gravity - Tray - Pompidou
Commissioned by the Centre Pompidou
A surface that appears to obey different laws. Tilt it, walk past it, and the warped grid shifts between the Centre Pompidou's primary reds and blues: the museum's façade, translated into an object for the home.
Fundamental was commissioned by the Centre Pompidou to reinterpret its most recognisable feature: the exposed, colour-coded grid that turned a museum into a landmark. The result is a tray that does the same trick at table scale. Interlocking sections of high-gloss powder coated steel let you adjust the angle by hand, and as the grid warps, the colour moves with it, it is never quite the same from two points in the room.
Launched at Paris Design Week 2020 for the Pompidou boutique, and made in Germany. A piece with a pan-European provenance, and a presence to match.
Roughly the size of an A4 piece of paper (20 cm square). For keys and small things by the door, jewellery on a dresser, or simply as a centrepiece that changes with the light.
Material: Powder coated stainless steel, in Pompidou red and blue

Care Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
