JENNY ODELL - RESISTING THE ATTENTION ECONOMY

This month's hero is Oakland, California based artist and teacher Jenny Odell. She captured our attention and will be allowed to keep our attention for some time to come.

In her deeply thought provoking book, developed from her essay How to do Nothing she has lots of lessons as to how to cope with internet addiction. 

Our key take away is an old wisdom, but one worth repeating. In order to kick and addiction, you have to replace it with something else. Odell has taught us to train our attention to the natural world around us, the species sharing the city streets with us (for we are ever in nature) and how to really love our local park.
