CANDLEHOLDERS

Fundamental.Berlin works in two materials and one discipline: hand-cut crystal and polished stainless steel, shaped by geometry rather than decoration.

Rainbow pieces are cut from Krone Neun crystal and carry a dichroic film across each facet. Crystal already splits light; the film amplifies what is latent in the glass, so the spectrum shifts as the flame moves. The Candleholder takes a taper, the Tealight a votive.

Drops is a candelabra for four candles — four crystal spheres set into a monolithic crystal block, bonded with a pigmented adhesive that leaves a shift of colour where the two surfaces meet.

Gravity pieces are a warped steel grid, made in Italy and assembled by hand in Berlin. The Tealight Holder is the smallest of them. The Candleholder Vase does both jobs, with a glass insert so it can hold water.

Liquid is a wall-mounted candleholder in reclaimed stainless steel, a collaboration with J. Mayer H. Available in left and right orientations.

All are designed in Berlin by architects Gunnar Rönsch and Steve Molloy, who have worked in crystal and polished metal since 2011.
